BORN: december 29, in elk grove village, illinois to the parents of robert warren and kathleen anne walters CURRENT DWELLING: los angeles EDUCATION: san francisco state university; B.A. film production, with additional emphases in art history and theatre FAVORITE ARTISTS: tamara de lempicka, frida kahlo, keith haring, remedios varo, leonore fini, jean-michael basquiat, tina modotti, henri toulouse-lautrec, gustav klimt, and lenora carrington OTHER INSPIRATIONS: robert and kathleen walters, sara marie achilli, pedro zamora, samantha levin, madonna, bjork, gus van sant, grace jones, baz luhrmann, mark romanek, maya deren, george lucas, and marlene dietrich LAKE ZURICH: growing up in the chicago area, BRADY spent almost all of his free time drawing - on anything, and anywhere, he could find... whether imitating his favorite saturday morning cartoons (which included "the smurfs," "the snorks," and disney’s "gummi bears") and after-school diversions ("he-man" and "the thundercats"), or creating his own cast of strange characters (such as "the snow goats," "goldwin," or "the sea witches"), BRADY was always busy utilizing a wide array of colors and supplies to come up with the wildest of creatures from the very depths of his curious imagination... (one also cannot deny the immense influence of the films in both the "star wars" and "indiana jones" trilogies...)
SCOTTSDALE/ TEMPE: while "exiled" in arizona, BRADY spent a good portion of his time honing his dj-ing and mixing skills, and the rest - performing, taking up roles in a wide variety of material - from meredith wilson's musical, "the music man," to the lead role in eugene ionesco's manic "the lesson." BRADY still found time to draw and paint as well. however, these days, the doodlings were mostly relegated to the margins of his high school notebooks. finally at age 19, living in his own apartment, BRADY found the peace and solitude (and deep subject matter) to listen to the urging of his inner-conscience. therefore, he began his "serious" painting career, attaining countless inspiration from the likes of frida kahlo, gustav klimt, keith haring, jean-michael basquiat, and tamara delempicka.
SAN FRANCISCO: during his halcyon days in “the city by the bay,” BRADY contributed artwork and text to both books in the travel log of bijou clochard and duvet vedette series, produced and directed three short films (including "styrofoam head," about a young man's obsession with a wig-shop styrofoam mannequin), spewed out countless remixes, "starred" in a documentary (about himself - and his passion for painting and dancing), and finally got the opportunity to exhibit his paintings as part of the "evening of high art" collective. (somehow, he also found time to graduate from college, and appear very briefly in disney's "flubber?")
BRADY, with friend lisa espinda, at “an evening of high art,” a collaborative art show in san francisco (august 1998) SOUTH BEACH: while in miami, BRADY spent a year of hedonistic fun, coalescing with the naughty fashionistas, but also honing his art technique further than ever before. after another successful collaborative art show, BRADY's paintings were selling faster than copies of the latest album from mariah carey!! in fact, BRADY was finally commissioned to produce an original piece of art for his biggest collector to date, miss susana fernandez of key biscayne, florida. a change of pace, and oceans, spurred some new attractions - screenwriting and photography. (one screenplay is in the can, and ready to be sold to the highest bidder, while the second is well under way!)
MANHATTAN: during his eight years in new york city, BRADY's pursuits included more acting (taking on the lead role in french-italian director michel zampino's "aim high" - which premiered in america at the nyu first run film festival after showing in various festivals in europe), more painting, more music and remix production, and more interest in broadening horizons. six of the artist's paintings were featured in the compilation art tome madonna in art (2004), while another was published in the paper doll release, a tribute to mom (2004).
LOS ANGELES: BRADY's future projects include a photography installation based on the artist's "past lives" and two new painting series, one of which will hopefully culminate in a multi-media exhbit featuring short films and burlesque. a documentary showcasing the special new year's 2007 performance of the band the gentle people, a new music venture, and a fashion essay/ journal of the year that was 2001 are also currently simmering on the BRADY backburner.
the BRADYtimeline is just around the corner, if you can stomach it! © 1994-1995/ 2001/ 2004-2009, BRADY | ![]() | |||||||||||||
